Paula and Steven
March 5th, 2010
Paula and Steven are getting married soon at Garvock House Hotel in Fife, but before then they had suggested that the ideal place to meet up and do their Engagement session was New Lanark. So we did !
Here are just a few images from that shoot

I like this one …. Steven was laughing at something, although I have no idea at what !

Another natural one

I’m going through a black and white phase right now for this sort of image, and I really like it. I think it works well.

Just a little bit of “selective colouring” on the scarf in this one

Love this one, simply put, it just captures “them”

and I really liked this one too …

The falls are impressive even if there’s just little water flow at the time.

and just a little fun shot to finish the day off.

Looking forward to the Wedding guys, it should be a lot of fun !!

Abigail and Ross – The Wedding
February 25th, 2010
Hi Blog readers,
Remember we did a blog about Abigail and Ross a few weeks back, well they recently got married at Houstoun House Hotel near Livingston. If you remember there was fog, rather a lot of it during their Engagement Shoot, well the weather was even more interesting for the wedding. Snow, and lots of it !
Abi getting ready for the big day ahead …

I reckon I’ll be in BIG trouble from her Mum for posting this one
)

The shoes and dress ..

Dress details

Say hello to Austin .. the collie with character !

The girls at various stages of getting ready …

I really liked this shot ..

Abigail arriving at the Hotel

Ross making sure that everything is just perfect

The room was set out really really nicely ..

You could say that this is an important part of the ceremony

So, remember the snow I was talking about ?

I loved this shot …

The only way that we could get out into the snow, was if the girls brought their “Wellies”, which of course, they did !!

A great bunch of girls, and up for anything that sounded like a challenge !!

Some inside shots

A great moment during the first dance ..

Last, but by no means least … tell me that everyone doesn’t want a shot of their wedding like this ??
I’ll see how long it takes you to spot the shadow on the front on the hotel …………

Abigail and Ross, the weather on the day maybe wasn’t what we’d have asked for, but I think we made it work on the day. You’re a great couple, and I had a ball, especially with things like the “wellies” shot.

Richard and Lana – The Wedding
January 25th, 2010
I posted Richard and Lana’s Engagement Session some time ago, so now it’s time for some of the wedding shots.
They got married at the Shawlands Park Hotel near Larkhall.
Lana getting the finishing touches to her tiara

Just some final makeup to attend to, and we’re done.

Lana looking stunning

Richard just getting the final once over by his mum

The nerves are beginning to show …

The girls arriving at the Venue .. all excited too

Lana and her Dad, just before going into the ceremony

A funny moment during the vows, in fact Lana was laughing so much, that the ceremony had to be “put on hold” for a good few minutes!

The Kiss !

I thought that this was an interesting shot … certainly one that suits a black and white theme …

Lana and Richard had several white doves to be released, and the next two shots dispel the myth that doves just flutter to the ground after being released! . This was a tough shot, as you never know where the doves are going to go, but they were well behaved, and therefore I got the shot .. don’t you think ?

The room was fantastic, and what a cake !

The chef was rather “artistic” with the dessert plates !

A funny moment during the speeches

Richard came running into the dance floor, slipped, tripped, tried to catch the fall, failed and well, literally landed just like this … Lana needless to say found it all rather funny ..

There were sky lanterns that were released, some with success, and some not. It was quite windy, but it was fun !!

The Shawlands Park Hotel – Great venue, check it out at http://www.shawlandsparkhotel.co.uk/

Richard and Lana, what a day, what a night! .. great wedding, and good times .. may you both have the best time together, forever, and thanks again ..

Tracy and Danny – The Wedding
January 11th, 2010
So, to compliment the recent Blog about Tracy and Danny’s Engagement session, here are some images of their Wedding day. They got married at Airdrie registry office, and then it was a special reception at Airdrie Golf course. Special, as they don’t normally hold Wedding receptions there, but they did on this occasion.
Danny getting ready

Tracy’s stunning dress

The moment of the Bride arriving …

I love this shot when they’re looking at each other ..

Now, normally when it comes to capturing images like this, you would normally get all the adults standing just so, and then wait for the children to simply look this way … this young lady however wanted to steal the show .. so we all let her !!
What a fantastic moment !!

Some quiet time alone, for a few artistic ones

There was a sequence of shots that went with this one, as Tracy was killing herself laughing during the speeches.

I’ve done this shot in the past, but can you spot why’s it’s special?
No?, well I’ll give you a Hint – The shadows

Some First dance shots

Last but not least … I asked the Bride and Groom to step outside for a few minutes just to take advantage of the sky that I had been watching for the last 20 minutes. I don’t think they were expecting this though …

Tracy and Danny, I want to thank you both again for being absolute stars. I know that we all had a great day, especially me!, and didn’t we create some fantastic images. Let me wish you both all the very best and more for the future as you’re an outstanding couple.

Tracy and Danny – Engagement Shoot
January 10th, 2010
With all this snow lying around, I thought I’d post up an Engagement Session from a few months ago, when the weather was, well 30 degrees warmer!
Danny and Tracy are one of those couples that are made for each other. Everyone that knows them can see it, and it’s such a nice thing to witness, never mind photograph.
We went to the New Lanark Mill to do the Engagement Session, as it’s an ideal place being full of locations which are very suited to this sort of imagery.

I really liked the lighting in this one, but there were so many in the final selection, it was hard to choose

The falls of Clyde were impressive ..

Especially when the entire falls are used as the backdrop ..

Just a couple of fun ones here ..

Tracy showing off her ring to it’s best with a little help from the sunlight of course !

Black and white images work well given the right circumstances, and well, it works well here I think ..

Of course, I had to do my “Silhouette shot” near the end of the day ..

I liked the frame on this one .. along with the “summer” feel to the image

Now, there is a story with this one. The couple have a black and white theme to their living room, and wanted an image that worked with that, but also requested a splash of red in there too. So, I thought that this image was fun, but as it also satisfied those rules, well, it would have been a shame not to eh?
I’ll let you all look at it, then look at it again, as it’s “special”

Tracy and Danny, I won’t go into detail about the fun that we had, as you both know … and I’ll drop a few images from the wedding here shortly
Abigail and Ross – Engagement Shoot
January 3rd, 2010
Well, 2010 is finally here, so let me wish all my Blog readers a Happy New Year, and all the very best that 2010 has to offer you.
Getting back to business, Abigail and Ross are due to get married at Houstoun House Hotel, near Livingston soon, and so we recently met up to do their Engagement Shoot.
The day was well, foggy to say the least, but not easily put off Abi decided to go with it, as she quite likes the fog, and I knew that we could pull off some images on that day that would be that “little bit different”
So, here are some shots from that day ……
Foggy conditions generally mean we’re going to end up doing more black and white images than normal, but it works .. don’t you think?

I really liked this one …

This was a cute moment .. totally natural

Houstoun House is quite a building with a lot of history attached to it, but it is a stunning venue to get married at …

The next two images are part of my traditional set, but they’re timeless, and Abi really shows her character in the first one

Just a good looking, natural couple …

That’s it for now folks, I’ll post a few shots up from the wedding late in January
Happy New Year to all and one …
Ann and David – The Wedding
December 21st, 2009
Ann and David recently got married in the small village of Quarter near Hamilton. The Church there is very pretty, and although the forecast wasn’t looking good, the sky cleared and the sun shone for us when it mattered.
So, here are a few shots from their big day …
The girls getting ready …
Ann first of course !

I did this one for a bit of fun, while her hair was in a wild state !!

The bridesmaids getting ready ..

It was all go in the living room (as per normal)

A few shoe shots for those that appreciate some style

Some dress details .. and what a dress it was !

Ann, almost ready, just a few details more

The girls at the Church all ready .. very cute !

David getting some last minute adjustments from Mum of course

The men looking cool as ever

The weather as I said, turned out to be pretty good in the end !

Some inside shots from the ceremony itself ..

I love this one …

The rings looking their very best on Ann’s bouquet

Yep, you guessed it, I’m loving this one too !!

The cutting of the cake …

David chilling with some of their guests … I mean who can blame him?
)

Dancing the night away

I eventually left around 10 as the party was really getting into high gear at that point ..

David and Ann, I’d just like to wish you all the very best once again, and thanks for a fantastic time !!
Richard and Lana – Engagement Shoot
December 1st, 2009
Richard and Lana got married at The Shawlands Hotel recently, and I’ll post a few shots from that soon, but before the Wedding, we did an Engagement Shoot at Strathclyde Park. It was certainly a “fun night” as they really are a laugh-a-minute type of couple, so here are a few images from it. Enjoy ..
This first image really shows Lana as she is, the character of the moment !
Rescuing her husband to be …
I like this one … a lot !
Yes, that really is them both on the flying fox …
Errr .. and the swings !
Last but not least, my trademark .. the silhouette shot to end the day. Not always possible as it is Scotland after all, but I do try
)

Keep watching .. Wedding shots coming up soon …
Mandy and Chris – The Wedding
November 19th, 2009
I last Blogged about Mandy and Chris when I covered their Engagement Session.
Well, it’s time to show you some images from their Wedding. They ended up getting 300 final images in their collection, but as you know, I only show a few samples from that day, just enough to give you an idea of the day’s events
The weather on the day wasn’t perfect, but we still managed to grab the shots in between rain showers !
The Bridesmaids waiting to get ready in the hair dressers … The girls were having a good old laugh when I got there …
Some makeup Shots of Mandy ..

The Bridesmaids ..
Mandy’s stunning dress …
and of course the shoes …
almost ready to go, so it was time for me to leave and find the boys and make sure they were all ready to go ..
Chris and his best man in a “ selective colour” shot

Mandy and Chris had seen this shot of mine before, and asked for it. – Note how the rings cast shadows in the shape of love hearts ?, not the easiest thing to do, especially 10 minutes before the ceremony!, but I think I managed it

Inside the car, as the girls start to arrive
The Bride arriving with her Dad..
and coming down the Aisle
St Josephs in Blantyre is quite a building

Some signing shots

The Happy couple walking down the aisle
Just a few sample group shots inside .
and a few more from the 300 final images ..
I always try to do something that little bit different with the rings, and the flowers helped me in this case ..

Some dancing shots, and a few of the night-time images captured of Mandy and Chris and their guests ..
I left around 10pm to let them dance the night away …
Mandy and Chris, Congratulations again !!
You were fantastic to work with, all the very best to you both for the future ..
Roddy and Beth -The Wedding
November 2nd, 2009
Yes I know, I haven’t been blogging for over a month, or two, but it is the busiest time of the year after all !
Earlier this year I covered Roddy and Beth, and their Engagement Shoot, so I thought it was time to catch up and post some shots from the wedding …
The Dresses
Beth just getting the necklace perfect
The Girls just having a bit of a laugh ..
Moving on to the Boys ..
The Bride arriving
Time for a kiss …
The happy couple
The very small church at Skirling (near Biggar)
At New Lanark Mill – Falls of Clyde are in the background
One of my favourite poses for this year
The Rings – in the Bouquet
another favourite and popular pose …
The first dance …
My congratulations go out to you Roddy and Beth, I had a lot of fun working with you both, and the church, the venue, and the weather were all fantastic !!
